Brian Kelly hired...and the BCS should be fired.

Many of you are still unaware of the man to my left.

I would like to introduce you to this man: Brian Kelly, 2009 Home Depot College Football Coach of the Year, better known as the head football coach at the University of Cinci-- Notre Dame?

But he was just awarded C.O.Y. for taking the Bearcats to their first ever undefeated season...but he's now a Fighting Irish?

Wait a minute...the Bearcats are going to another BCS bowl and he won't be coaching them? Has a coach ever been awarded Coach of the Year and not actually coached the entire year?!

Well, he's used to wearing Adidas. He's got a bright, young star in Dayne Crist. He'll prove to be better than any QB Kelly's ever had -- even Pike.

Arguably Cincinnati's greatest football coach is a huge win for the Irish. He signed a 5 year deal with the school that finally has something to look forward to. Pete Carroll will finally get some consistent competition. Kelly can recruit and develop. It'll be interesting to see how the Notre Dame fighting Irish fair in the next few years. The only thing he's got going against him is former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz stating that Kelly is the right man for the job -- oh brother!

Would you like to know what else is giving me a headache?

The BCS -- typical.

I don't want to use this blog to rant about how I can't stand the BCS or anything. I don't want to write about how much of a copout it is that the BCS pinned the two non-BCS conference undefeated teams (TCU v. Boise State) against each other, clearly in an attempt to avoid both teams upsetting an actual BCS team, and therefore creating more talk of a playoff system. Also, with this crappy match up, they avoid a potential 4 undefeated teams at the end of the year. However, there can still be 3.

Wait! Did I just say crappy match up?! How? Two undefeated teams going at it! I don't care. This is like that great game the Lions and the Browns had earlier this year. It's great until you realize it's a hoax. I want to see TCU and Boise St. take on real teams!

So, since I said I wouldn't rant, here's how I wish the BCS would've shaken out.

Texas v. Florida

We already have a great NC match up, but it could be Colt McCoy v. Tim Tebow. Who doesn't want to see that match-up?

BCS Rose Bowl

Oregon v. Boise State

I know it's a rematch of the first game of the season— but that's why I want to see it! Boise smashed on Oregon, but Oregon ripped off a great season and has looked unstoppable at times. Could Boise pull off another huge upset?

BCS Fiesta Bowl

Ohio State v. Cincinatti

I want this argument to finally be decided: which is the better team in Ohio?

BCS Sugar Bowl

Alabama v. TCU

I want to see if TCU can hang with the big boys. Could TCU really stop both a tough and fast team in Alabama?

BCS Orange Bowl

Iowa v. Georgia Tech

We'll just keep this one the same...Yay...
