NHL
I'd like for all of you to become familiar with a certain L.A. Kings player over to the right: Anze Kopitar. He currently leads the NHL in total points and is 2nd behind Alex Ovechkin for total goals with 10. He has helped lead the Kings to their best start in recent memory with the help of Alexander Frolov and 2008-2009 NHL all-star Dustin Brown.
The Kings, 8-4-1, have had their seasons in which they start hot but end cold, but I've got a feeling this won't be one of them. The Kings look good this year, and the Duck's do not.
NBA
How about them Cavs? The Cleveland Cavaliers are 0-2 and off to their worst start since '05, when they didn't the make the playoffs. Oh no! Cleveland must panic! However, their next game is surely a win: @ Timberwolves.
People are quick to forget that last year they lost 2 of their first 3 games, also to two playoff teams: Boston and New Orleans. They beat the Bobcats for their one win. Relax errbody. This still isn't as bad as LeBron not shaking Dwight's hand last year.
How about Los Angeles? Well, which one? The Lakers looked a little rusty in their opening game win against their inferior city counterparts. It even looked as if the Clips might beat the Lakers... but that's just foolish. Clips blew the close game at the end and also lost yesterday in the final seconds to Phoenix. Now there's an 0-2 team to be worried about.Marcus Camby: Oh no, there's still some time left! We haven't won yet!
Sorry Camby, It's hard to figure out how to win when you don't do it very often.
As for the Lakers? They almost won as many play-off games last year than the Clips won regular-season ones.
Now I know it's super easy to rip the Clippers. Honestly, I think if Blake Griffin hadn't got hurt, they would be fighting for the 8th spot in the West.
New Laker Ron Artest played well in his first game in Purple and Gold. He played the most minutes, 41, and got 10 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists. He just needs to cut down his turnovers and work on his free-throws a bit. I definitely see Artest getting the hang of things and playing well for the Lakers. He looked excited and energized to play his first game as a Laker.NCAA Football
ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll Top 5:
1. Kansas
2. Michigan State
3. Texas
4. North Carolina
5. Kentucky
Hey Jon, what the heck is wrong with you? That's not even close to the Top 5.
It's the NCAA Basketball preseason rankings that came out today. Why did I put them up under NCAA Football?
All of those teams will have a shot at the National Title in March. What a concept.
Should my Trojans have lost to Washington? No. Would they smash on Iowa? Probably. Would 3-loss Oklahoma beat Iowa? Yes, and they're not even BCS ranked. Even still, if USC had not lost to Washington, they'd be undefeated but still in the same ranking. Nuts for them or any team in the same position.
I truly blame the BCS and their fat little girlfriends! I think Texas Tech coach Mike Leach agrees with me!

Stay tuned for this weeks NCAA Football picks!

As previously mentioned, the preseason rankings came out today. Here's what the top ten looks like:
1. Kansas
2. Michigan State
3. Texas
4. North Carolina
5. Kentucky
6. Villanova
7. Purdue
8. Duke
9. West Virginia
10. Butler
I definitely agree with the top 5. After that it gets a little shaky. I think you can switch Kansas and Michigan State for one another and no one would complain.
Regardless, It's going to be another great season. One interesting thing to note however: UCLA is not ranked.
MLB
Just a quick little note on the Bronx failures and the Phillies...
How are the Phils not going to smash on every Yankee pitcher after they handled Sabathia yesterday on the road?
I picked the Yanks, and I know it's only one game, but damn do the Phil's look good.
