College Picks: Week 5

Hey everyone! It's week 5 and last week was full of upsets, including 4 top-10 teams going down convincingly. Should be an interesting week. There are a few intriguing match-ups. Check out the picks!

#3 Alabama @ Kentucky

J: (#3 Alabama over Kentucky) Kentucky was killed at home last week against Florida, but they didn't let Florida leave without a souvenir. Regardless, 'Bama will be cautious with Greg McElroy and won't let the upset occur. I do think, however, that this will be a closer game than most people expect.

E: (#3 Alabama over Kentucky) Alabama should dominate this game on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. They are one of the best teams in the country. 

#4 LSU @ #18 Georgia

J: (#18 Georgia over #4 LSU ) This may be partly wishful thinking, but I think the Bulldogs are hungry for a big win and feel disrespected. I also believe the Tigers are good, but not worthy of being #4 and the Bulldogs will expose them. I like A.J. Green to help the Dogs pull the upset over the Tigers in Athens.

E:(#18 Georgia over #4 Lsu) What a game this is going to be. I think the Bull dog will be fired up at home, and get the big W. I agree with Jon A.J Green is a monster.

#5 Boise State vs. U.C. Davis

J: (#5 Boise State over U.C. Davis) Boise's pretty good, but it's match-ups like these that kill the Bronco's strength of schedule and will eventually keep them out of the title game.

E: (#5 Boise State over U.C Davis) This will be a blow out. I'm not going to take against Boise St again all year. You know why? because the teams the play are not good.

#6 Virginia Tech @ Duke

J: (#6 Virginia Tech over Duke) I picked Tech to lose last week. I could beat the Blue Devils on Turf.

E: (Duke over #6 V-tech) Look for this to be a close game. V-tech will have a major let down just watch. I'm the liking these Blue Devils in a upset.

#7 USC @ #24 Cal

J: (#7 USC over #24 Cal) This won't be a blowout by any means, at least I don't think so, considering SC's offensive struggles. However, Cal did get smashed last week in Eugene proving once again that Cal gets nervous when entering the top 10. I think Matt Barkley will shine in this one, with help from the running game, and with Cal's lack at the WR position, to come back home with a win. Notice I didn't even mention... the most recent ex-Heisman favorite?

E:(#24 Cal over #7 USC) I think both teams played real bad last week. I'm not impressed with Usc at all. Cal got killed to Oregon though, and man that was terrible. I don't think Javid Best will get dominated again. Look for Cal to bounce back, and beat SC by a field goal.

#8 Oklahoma @ #17 Miami

J: (#17 Miami over #8 Oklahoma) This is such a tough pick. Neither team likes to play defense very well. Therefore, offense is the key to the game. Jacory Harris is very comfortable playing at home and also doesn't want to lose back-to-back games, especially to ranked opponents. Oklahoma seemingly hasn't missed a beat with Landry Jones while reigning Heisman winner and starting QB Sam Bradford has been out. The Sooners recently lost in the Orange Bowl game to Florida a few games ago. They also lost to Miami the last time they met, 1987, in the original Orange Bowl. Done. Miami takes it.

E:(#17 Miami over #8 Oklahoma) I thought Bradford was going to play at first, and I like the Sooners chances with him in. Now with Jones in I just don't see him beating Miami on the road. Jacory Harris is money, and will bounce back from a bad week against V-tech.

#9 Ohio State @ Indiana

J: (#13 Ohio State over Indiana) Indiana had a tough loss last week vs. Michigan. Will they get revenge and beat Ohio State? No. They just don't have enough pieces right now. Also, Ohio State is still more talented than Michigan right now.

E: (#13 Ohio State over Indiana) Not taking against Ohio St this week Finally right? They have proved to me that they are a team to be reckoned with. Look for Pryor to have a huge game, and get the Buckeyes another victory.

#10 Cincinatti @ Miami (OH)

J: (#10 Cincy over Miami (OH)) I've made recent implications about how Cincy might be better than Ohio State. However, instead of being able to find out, the 2 teams play other Ohio inferiors instead of each other. Cincy rolls Miami (OH) as Pike has a great game.

E:(#10 Cincy over Miami (OH)) Look for this game to be close. I almost took Miami in the upset, but Pike is to money. He should have a field day.

#11 TCU vs. SMU

J: (#11 TCU over SMU) Who cares?

E: (#11 Tcu over Smu) This will be a blowout Tcu is a great team. Like Gonzo said though who cares?

#12 Houston @ UTEP

J: (#12 Houston over UTEP) I picked Houston to lose last week, but they pulled out a 1-point win. Houston rolls over UTEP and continues their quest to bust the BCS.

E:(#12 Houston over Utep) Houston keeps rolling, and so does their high powered offense.

#13 Iowa vs. Arkansas State

J: (#13 Iowa over Arkansas State) 5-0? 1-0 atop the Big Ten? Convincing win over a top-5 team? Go Hawkeyes! They'll take care of this cupcake fast.

E:(#13 Iowa over Arkansas St.) Iowa is for real, and is a sleeper to make a bcs game. This game won't help them out at all in the rankings.

#15 Penn State @ Illinois

J: (#15 Penn State over Illinois) I thought Illinois was better than the embarrassing performance they put on in Columbus, but they're not good enough to beat the Nittany Lions either. Penn State bounces back with a big win in Champagne.

E:(#15 Penn St over Illinois) I love both Qbs in this game. I just think Daryl Clark has more talent on his side opposed to Juice Williams side. This will be a close game trust me.

#16 Oregon vs. Washington State

J: (#16 Oregon over Washington State) This will get out of hand early. If USC wins at Cal tomorrow, then these two teams will have a hell of a match-up in Eugen in the following weeks. 

E: (#16 Oregon over Wash St.) Terrible game look for Oregon to win by 30 plus points.

#20 BYU vs. Utah State

J: (#20 BYU over no one. Again.) Whatever.

E:(#20 BYU over Utah St) haha terrible.

#21 Ole Miss @ Vanderbilt

J: (#21 Ole Miss over Vandy) Vanderbilt is terrible. Ole Miss will bounce back this week after getting embarassed by the Gamecocks last week.

E:(#21 Ole Miss over Vandy) This will be a blow out don't waste your time watching it.

#22 Michigan @ Michigan State

J: (#22 Michigan over Michigan State) Tate Forcier has his name being mentioned in Heisman conversations. Michigan State is just having a disappointing season already. Michigan takes their intrastate rival down tomorrow.

E:( Michigan St. over #22 Michigan) Look for Michigan St to be fired up and ready to give the Wolverines there first lost. Forciet will finally be human in this one.

#25 Georgia Tech @ Miss. State

J: (#25 G-Tech over Miss. State) Georgia Tech, led by Nesbitt, will definitely get a win this weekend.

E:(#25 G-tech over Miss. State) Nesbitt, Nesbitt, and umm ya Nesbitt.
