What a weekend in football.

Let's start it out with a not-so-crazy college football Saturday, except for a certain someone's favorite team.

That's right, my USC Trojans went down in Seattle on Saturday, possibly wasting away yet another season, and upsetting the state of Ohio in consecutive weeks.

Blame it on Aaron Corp? Yes and no. He did play poorly, but Jeremy Bates asked more of him in that game than he's asked of Matt Barkely all season. Aaron had a tough outing in an arguably more hostile environment than the Horseshoe.

Blame the lack of Taylor Mays? Definitely. There's no excuse for the defense giving up big plays, especially on 3rd downs, but without Taylor, you're not just missing talent. Taylor is that force, the voice of the USC defense that Bob Sanders is to the Colts D or Ray Lewis is to the Ravens D.

Blame it on the Huskies? Hell yes. They played inspired football. They wanted it more. Jake Locker is a phenomenal athlete, and people tend to forget that after he was injured for almost the entire season last year. He was injured after the BYU game that UW infamously lost on a terrible excessive celebration call by the officials.

I said before the season began that if there was any year SC might lose the Pac-10 or struggle in it, it would be this year. I'm not giving up just yet. They fell to #12 and many teams will knock each other off through the season.

In other news, 4 of us picked NFL games this weekend.

Here are the results:

1. Jon (12-4)
2. Kyle (11-5)
3. Dru (10-6)
4. Eric (7-9)

CF...

Jon: 19-3

Eric: 17-5

Good picks guys. Eric, I know you'll bounce back next week.

Congrats to the Manning brothers on their comeback wins this weekend. Eli led the Giants to a comeback win in the first regular-season pro football game inside the brand new Cowboys Stadium. Peyton is now 2-0 in Miami in his last 2 games as the Colts won it in the end again after only having the ball for just under 15 minutes. In fact, they only had 3 offensive plays in the 3rd quarter as the Colts became the team with lowest time of possession to ever win a game. Also, congrats to Peyton Manning on surpassing Johnny Unitas for most wins as a Colts QB with 119.

What I learned this week in the NFL: The Ravens are for real, the Chargers should be scared, Eli Manning may have found a new favorite receiver, and Drew Brees might be, arguably, the most explosive QB we've ever seen. Brees is a machine.

Stay tuned to Talk at the Urinal for college football picks later this week.

Pete Carroll said they tryed to win the game with their running attack. Sounded like a load of crap today during my 3 hours of listening to 570 and 710AM radio. But I will say, Washington put in work. One USC guy they interviewed on the radio said, we are more talented, but they outhustled us today. Something you never want to hear from a top/more superior athlete.

The rest of 570 and 710AMs radio broadcast...highlighting the Marriage to be of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian. Wish you guys could have enjoyed some of the humor. For all those wondering, yes, Ryan Seacrest will be there. You can stop holding you breath in anticipation of that now.

10-6 this week - switch the 6 and the 0 and you have my 16-0 week 3

In soccer news - the 11th of October will be the 1st Soccer post on TATU - by me!

I definitely agree with the Pete thing. They didn't run when they should have and relied on Corp's arm. Terrible. Whichever player said that is right though. It's just a shame that they overlook players. You won't go 16-0. I think Lamar's making a mistake.
