My boy Vick, Where should I start with you? Vick has always been my favorite athlete of all time. Well, him and Kobe are right there with each other. I started off being a Buccaneers fan for a couple years. I loved those Bucs during the Dungy and Sapp years. So, when they beat the Raiders in the Superbowl, I was a happy Bucs fan. Then, during the off season after the Bucs title, came my boy Vick, first overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons. I had followed him all throughout his Virginia Tech years, and man, was I a huge fan. So I knew that whoever he was drafted to, that that would be the team I was going to like, plain and simple. Right when he got drafted to the Falcons, that was it for me and the Bucs. What a great Tampa fan I was... I'm over it.
Vick was my boy, and Falcons were my new team and I was excited. I watched almost every game, and mostly every down he played. I was obsessed with him, maybe a little too over the top for him, but that's how much I liked watching him play. He was an all around QB and he was the face of the Falcons franchise. He was also the highest paid player in the NFL, yes, my boy Vick was. He rushed for a 1000 yards one year, and threw for 20 pass tds. No other quarterback had or will ever do that. I'm sorry, it just wont happen.
Soon after that, everything went downhill. Vick's last year the Falcons didn't make playoffs. Vick was the one to blame and he was flipping off fans and just not being himself. Then, in the off season, he gets caught with dog fighting and gets sentenced to jail for 2 years... Right then, I was crushed. It was horrible to have your favorite all time boy be in jail and suspended from the league for 2 years. It was not good news at all.
I was shocked and disappointed. I was Falcons fan because of him. I stopped being a fan of the Bucs for him. I bought Vick jerseys. I told everyone he was the best quarterback ever, and told people that he was going to win mvp and get a Super Bowl ring every year. Man I was pissed, but I knew he would make a comeback. So, I continued to be a Falcons fan, but it was totally not the same without him.
When he got out of jail this year, I was totally sure that Vick would be back on the field and would redeem himself. Well, I'm glad I never gave up on him because now he is BACK and is redeeming himself as we speak. Tony Dungy is the man for helping him out and I will forever be a Tony Dungy fan. As for Donovan Mcnabb, well, I really didn't like him that much. However, now I will always respect him for wanting Vick to be an Eagle.
I don't know how much Vick will get used during the season, or at what position he will get used at, but as long as he get some touches and playing time, it's all pure gold for me. It'll be just like 2 years ago: watching Vick do his thing again, balling it up. Watching him in preseason is awesome. I has never watched this much preseason in my life. He's looking good and he's only going to get better. I cant wait for the NFL season to start so I can enjoy watching him again. Yes, I am now a Eagles fan, but I still love the Falcons too.
