The USC Stable, Stafon Johnson, Dodgers, and NFL picks analysis.
What's going on everyone?
It was a crazy weekend in sports.
Let's start with another upset Saturday. Four of the top-ten ranked teams fell this weekend, possibly due to a sickness of over-hype from the media.
Ole Miss lost a tough game to South Carolina. The gamecocks finally ran the ball well. Cal was massacred in Eugene. They never stood a chance. There goes Best's Heisman chances. Miami was also massacred on the road against a tough conference Foe, Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech played almost the perfect game, playing well on both sides of the ball. Lastly, Penn State fell to Iowa, again, for the 7th time in the last 10 years, and for the 3rd time in the last 4.
USC played a sloppy game against Washington State that was littered with penalties. It was never close, due to the Trojans looking unstoppable in the first quarter, putting up 20. USC finally showed off Matt Barkley's golden arm, but the Trojans struggled the rest of the game, only putting up 7 more points. They seem to do this all the time. They'll go crazy and make it look easy, until they begin to falter, get penalized, and struggle on offense. I still have yet to figure out what their problem is. I wish there was a little more consistency at the RB position. I don't see why McKnight and Johnson don't get 90% of the carries. The remaining 10% can go to Gable (7%) and Bradford (3%) They'll take the win, plus a brutal Cal loss, as they prepare to go up to Berkeley this weekend to take on the Bears. I'm not picking the winner yet. It's going to be a tough game for the Trojans.
As for Stafon Johnson, he was injured badly Monday after a freak weightlifting accident required him to get emergency surgery on his neck. He's still in critical condition. I don't even want to get into how the hell this happened, especially because there was a spotter. I just want to wish Stafon the best recovery possible. Get well soon.
In Baseball news, the Dodgers were killed today, 11-1, against the Pirates. Now, if it was the Cards, Phils, Braves, Rockies, then I'd understand, but it's the Pirates. Who do the Dodgers think they are? USC playing down to their opponents?
Dodgers: clinch the playoffs soon please.
Love,
Jon.
Let's see how we did on the picks this weekend in the NFL and College Football.
