Congratulations to Tiger... Becks... Vick... and Kuroda?

Hello world, welcome back! Tiger ended the day at the PGA Championship 8-under for the tournament, while barely holding off a roaring Padraig Harrington. Paddy finished the day 2 shots back of Tiger, tied with Y.E. Yang. The scores and events that occurred today should make for an interesting Sunday, but with Tiger's red shirt, a 2-shot lead, and a consistent history behind him, we here at Talk At The Urinal would like to congratulate Tiger Woods on major win number fifteen.

In MLS news, David Beckham was given a red card yesterday after a "malicious" tackle on Sounder's midfielder Peter Vagenas. Becks argued the call, and said afterwards that he did not commit the tackle with malicious intent. Vagenas layed on the field after being tackled, while Becks walked to the locker room to an roaring ovation from the crowd. Regardless of whether or not the tackle was malicious, I congratulate Beckham for winning over a crowd that, at times, has booed him and made him feel hated. He won that L.A. crowd over last night by not being the "Prissy English Boy" that fans have labeled him, and showed the crowd that badass English Premier League type of physical Soccer. We here at Talk At The Urinal would congratulate David for that fine tackle, only because Peter Vagenas is okay, and because we still need something to root for after the Galaxy suffered that 2-0 defeat.

In the NFL, preseason continued, leaving the Bears and Broncos scratching their heads thinking, "What went wrong here?" The biggest NFL news, however, was much better than Cutler's and Orton's 4 combined interceptions and 0 TD's: Michael Vick practiced for the first time Saturday as an NFL quarterback, nearly 2 years since being suspended from the NFL. Vick had a successful day, impressing coaches, who noticed his bigger, more ripped physique, and players, who enjoyed practicing with him. Danny Amendola, a second year pro out of Texas Tech stated, "He (Vick) throws the ball as hard as anybody I've ever seen." McNabb, playing catch with Vick, was most likely an integral part of bring Vick to the Philly. However, as the realizations of Vick becoming an Eagle kept setting in, in Philly, protestors continued their negative sentiment towards the signing of Vick. Many of the protestors, which include Jennifer Utley, wife of Phillies' starting second-baseman Chase Utley and current board member for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, began calling sponsors of the Philadelphia Eagles. The calls, however, were almost pointless. I'm also positive that it will piss the protestors off even more to find out that Reebok has already began manufacturing the #7 Vick Eagle's jersey due to a high demand from fans. I'm personally more interested in how Vick will be utilized in the Eagles offense which already includes dynamic players such as Donovan McNabb, Reggie Brown, Brian Westbrook, DeSean Jackson, and now Jeremy Maclin. Early NFC East favorite? That's for another day. We here at Talk At The Urinal would like to congratulate Vick on making it back to the NFL and having a successful day in practice. (If Blatz wrote this Vick section, it would be be surprisingly longer)

Lastly, let's all pray today for Dodgers' RHP Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda was struck in the head Saturday night by a line drive hit from pinch-hitter Ryan Ryal. Kuroda never lost consciousness but did suffer a concussion. CT scans of Kuroda's head came back negative. We here at Talk At The Urinal would like to congratulate Hiroki Kuroda on being a badass and taking one for the team. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for Kuroda so that he can come back and help an ailing Dodgers team that can't seem to break the funk they are currently experiencing.

Until next time...
