First things first, the guy is a class clown, and I don't think he has the mental toughness to win an NBA title. I'm not saying that he isn't talented; he's probably still the best center in the game right now.
I'm sure it must be tough to be the main guy your whole career and then go to another team where you're the second or third option. I understand that he's at about 75-80% healthy right now and that his coach's offensive system is not suitable for his style of play. Having said all that, there’s a time where it’s okay to joke around, but there’s also a time where the players have to be serious.
Shaq was one of the funniest guys in the NBA, but he knew the time and place for all his hoopla. It seems like Dwight laughs after every loss. Sure, maybe Howard is capable of changing his ways if he's happy and in the right system, but he doesn't like D'Antoni and doesn't seem to be too fond of Bryant either, and they're both going to be here for the next two years.
Moreover, he doesn't have that killer instinct that fans like to see in a superstar. Bryant has the killer instinct that all Laker fans have come to enjoy, but he will retire in a couple years and then we will have to rely on Howard, "the jokester," leading the Lakers to an NBA title. I know people are going to say, "Well Dwight led his team to the finals once before," and yes, that is true, but guess who beat him? Bryant, the guy with the killer instinct!
Because of his knee issues, I was relieved when LAL traded Bynum away. Also I could tell he only cared about himself. I was excited for the Howard-era to begin here, but so far his time with the Lakers this season has been a total "DWIGHTMARE." He has one post move and it's a left handed baby hook and he's a turnover machine.
I like Bynum's offensive game more because he has great post moves and definitely could take over when called upon. I'm not saying I would rather have Bynum than Dwight right now because have you seen Bynum's haircut lately? The guy is clueless, and I’ve played as many minutes as him this season.
D12 has definitely proven that he could dominate over the years, but that's mostly on the defensive side of the ball. I can't think of one great Howard offensive moment in the past. I can only think of him dunking and I'm not sure the guy has a clutch gene in him. So it's highly unlikely that the Lakers will trade him at the deadline and that's unfortunate because we will all see Dwight walk away this summer to another team, while the Lakers get nothing for him.
Blatz out!
